‘I will not beg for permission to pray’ – Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng on controversial vaccine prayer

In his prayer during the thanksgiving ceremony to heal the workers in Tembisa, Mogoeng prayed against any vaccine that is from the Devil intended to infuse the mark of the antichrist 666 and the DNA of corrupt people.

His prayer drew much criticism on social media, as some felt it was irresponsible for a person in his position to make such statements when the South African government is preparing to receive a Covid-19 vaccine in its fight against the pandemic.

Mogoeng said he never stated as fact that there are antichrist-branded vaccines.

He said all he was doing was praying that the bad vaccine didn’t succeed.

“This is the end of time according to Christians. If there is a 666 vaccine, I want God to destroy it. Any clean vaccine must be produced quickly, people need it for their health, “he said.

He rejected complaints that arose that his comments could mislead people into thinking that the vaccine the government ultimately provides is corrupt.

“There is an assumption that whatever people say in the public domain, our people are so dumb that they would buy it without thinking. I refuse to accept the narrative that our people are idiots and will accept anything Mogoeng says. “

He added that anyone who feels aggrieved by his prayer should file a complaint.
