Businesswoman and former Miss SA Basetsana Kumalo has dismissed a fake news report claiming she is a Kenyan woman who was involved with the late Tanzanian President John Magufuli.
The report was distributed on March 18, the day after Magufuli died of “heart complications.”
TimesLIVE reported that the 61-year-old man was one of the most prominent skeptics of the coronavirus in Africa and had not been seen in public since February 27, prompting speculation that he had contracted Covid-19.
The news website mpasho-news.com shared a photo of Basetsana with Magufuli, saying it was Kenyan businesswoman Sara Wanjiru, 34, who claimed to be six months pregnant with the late president’s son.
The site said Sara wanted Kenia to step in and help her so that the unborn child could be included in Magufuli’s will.
Taking Instagram, Basetsana made things clear.
“My name is not Sara Wanjiru. I am not from Kenya. I am not 34 years old. I am not six months pregnant with the son of the late President John Pambe Magufuli, ”she said.
He said the report took fake news to another level.
“It is not even a case of mistaken identity. This takes fake news to another level. It is beyond ridiculous. “I just wanted you to know, brothers (I just wanted you to know that this was happening)”, she said.
