A 3-year-old boy was allegedly mutilated to death by two of his neighbor’s pit bulls.
The husband of a Port Elizabeth woman tried in vain to save her life when her own pit bull attacked her Monday.
Belinda Jonker, 64, was killed at the scene at her Morningside home around 9:30 p.m., said police spokeswoman Capt.Sandra Janse van Rensburg.
According to Van Rensburg, Jonker and her husband, 66, were leaving their home at the time of the attack.

“[Jonker] had difficulty getting into the car. While her husband was assisting her, her four-year-old pit bull attacked her.
“Her husband tried to get the dog out [of her]but he couldn’t help his wife. After he asked the neighbors for help, they managed to take the dog from him and tied him to a tree. ”
Jonker suffered several injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Animal Anti-Cruelty League was called in to get the dog out of the house.
Since then, the Kabega Park police have opened an investigation into the incident.
