  • Limpopo police arrested five suspects for the murder of two business women in Polokwane earlier this month.
  • Makoena Mabusela-Leshabane, 46, and Tebogo Mphuti, 35, were shot and killed in execution style.
  • The 56-year-old husband of one of the victims was detained at the hospital where he was admitted after he allegedly attempted suicide.

The arrests were made in the early hours of Thursday morning, said police spokesman Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo. The five suspects were between 25 and 56 years old.

Makoena Mabusela-Leshabane, 46, and Tebogo Mphuti, 35, were shot and killed in execution style in Magnavia, Polokwane.

Mojapelo previously said that preliminary investigations revealed that the women were chatting with a local real estate agent and were viewing different business premises for rental purposes.

“Three suspects, two armed with firearms, accosted the two women seated in their motor vehicle and began shooting and killing them instantly.”

Later, the suspects ran towards their getaway vehicle parked nearby and fled at high speed.

Mojapelo said Thursday that the Limpopo Provincial Investigation Team, the Tracking Team and the Magama Investigators carried out a well-coordinated intelligence operation and managed to arrest the suspects at different addresses in Ekhuruleni, Elseburg, Katlegong and Germiston.
