BREAKING | Matric Pass Rate Announced

Motshekga has announced that the approval rate for Matric 2021 is 76.2%; however, it is a drop of 5.1 percentage points. She said she expected a “bloodbath” in the results, but praised the year of the class.

She says that 76% of the boys had passed away, compared to 75% of the girls. Motshekga says more girls received bachelor’s passes.

There were 72,000 more girls in 2020 than in 2019.

Motshekga says 71 out of 133 full-time inmates earned bachelor’s passes. There were no distinctions. This represents an 83.6% approval rate.

Of the schools that do not pay fees, 275,615 students obtained bachelor’s passes. Motshekga says this shows that students are emerging from poorer areas.

More than 2,161 students with special needs took the Matric exam and passed it 2,058. More than 900 obtained a Bachelor’s Pass and there were 563 distinctions between them.

Motshekga says that 70,560 students had progressed from grade 11 to writing Matric in 2020. She says more than 65,000 of them took the exams. Of these, more than 24,000 passed. A total of 1,065 distinctions came from that group.

Motshekga says that an inclusive education system is the way forward for the country.
