- The new DStv Explora Ultra set-top box is the first set-top box to give DStv subscribers the option to log in with their existing Netflix account.
- If you have an existing account, just open Netflix and log in.
- If you don’t have a Netflix account, you can sign up through the DStv Explora Ultra set-top box.
It is not as difficult as trying to kill a demogorgon. New DStv Explora Ultra decoder from MultiChoice is the first set-top box to give DStv subscribers the option to log in with their existing Netflix account.
Here’s how to watch Netflix through DStv set-top box or sign up for Netflix for the first time:
If you already have a Netflix account
In the event that you already have a Netflix account, you do not pay anything more or extra to watch Netflix through the DStv Explora Ultra decoder in addition to what you are already paying directly to Netflix.
Just open Netflix, log in, and start streaming.
If you don’t have a Netflix account and want to sign up
You can sign up for a new Netflix account through the DStv Explora Ultra set-top box where you can choose to add the Rand payment to your monthly DStv bill.
Since MultiChoice is adding Netflix in what the business calls a “plug-in,” you will also be able to unsubscribe from Netflix and cancel it again at any time, regardless and regardless of your DStv bill. You are not required to get Netflix and you are not required to keep Netflix once you have signed up.
To add a Netflix account through MultiChoice to your DStv account, through the DStv Explora Ultra decoder, press the new white apps button on the DStv remote, select Netflix and sign up.
The payment will be automatically added to your DStv account using your existing payment method.
If you had a Netflix membership before, but it expired
MultiChoice now allows you to restart your membership through DStv Explora Ultra. Go to the Netflix app, select “Join Now” with your existing username and password, and then “add” your expired Netflix account to your DStv account.
Not that you care or that it makes a difference to you, but if you’re wondering or wondering, MultiChoice charges a Netflix commission fee for every DStv customer who signs up or signs up through DStv Explora Ultra, though it’s not like that. It costs more for the real DStv subscriber to register this way.
If you are wondering, yes, it is also possible to pay with a Netflix coupon if Netflix has been added to your DStv account; however, you will have to log in and make this payment with Netflix by going to add the coupon details on the Netflix Website in your account.
Once you have signed up for Netflix through DStv Explora Ultra, you will be able to watch Netflix through your set-top box, but now you will also be able to watch Netflix through a smartphone or laptop or other compatible devices, as the Netflix account belongs to you.
Some strange things
Remember that Netflix is and will remain a separate company and MultiChoice is and will remain a separate company.
Like the stores in Starcourt Mall, MultiChoice only allows Netflix to be a small store with horror series and others within its larger mall. Therefore, you cannot get a refund from MultiChoice (the mall) if you haven’t used a full month of Netflix (the specific store).
At the moment, you can add a Netflix membership by subscription to DStv by DStv Explora Ultra, for example: if you have a DStv Explora Ultra set-top box in your DStv account, you can add a Netflix membership to it.
If you have two DStv Explora Ultra set-top boxes linked in XtraView in your account, you can still add a Netflix membership to your general DStv account. If you have two DStv Explora set-top boxes on your account, but they are not linked in XtraView, for example one is yours and the other is your mother, you can add 2 Netflix memberships to your DStv account.
So what happens when your DStv subscription becomes inactive due to non-payment or because you have disconnected it?
Well, your Netflix will actually go on, which means you will still be able to watch it, but only until the next Netflix renewal date, which means you will be disconnected when you are supposed to pay for it again.
If you want to continue using Netflix, you will need to go to Netflix to reset your membership.
Also, if you later want to keep Netflix but want to stop paying for it through your DStv account, you will need to change your payment method through Netflix at netflix.com/account; the same if you decide to cancel Netflix.
So what happens when you pay for Netflix through your DStv account and now you sell your DStv Explora Ultra?
It will sound complicated, but in reality it is not.
Since your DStv subscription on DStv Explora Ultra will first need to be canceled, your Netflix will be automatically disconnected on your next Netflix renewal date. Then, if you want to continue using Netflix, you will need to go to the Netflix website, select another payment method, and restart your Netflix membership.
Something else to keep in mind: your DStv and Netflix subscription dates could coincide with the same, but they could very well be and most likely will be different dates. Netflix does not deal with prorated payments.
The date you sign up for Netflix is when bingeing begins, so this date automatically becomes your Netflix renewal date. However, a DStv subscriber who has added Netflix to their existing bill to pay an amount in Rand will only make one payment to MultiChoice, and that payment date will be the DStv payment date.
Who are you going to call if Netflix is blocked?
If your payment is through DStv, please contact MultiChoice. If you pay Netflix directly, you will need to contact Netflix.
