Hyundai has removed the covers from its new i20 N Line, giving it a sportier look but no added oomph.
Of course, a full i20 N is on the horizon, so this variant of the N Line presented for Europe will serve as a bridge between kitchen models and the upcoming hot hatch.
The Korean firm says the N Line package features exterior and interior design elements “inspired” by the high-performance N range. Power comes from a 1.0-liter turbocharged unchanged engine that generates 88 kW and is coupled to the front wheels via the company’s “smart” six-speed manual gearbox. Still, Hyundai claims to have improved “engine response and exhaust sound.”
The i20 N Line gets a model-specific front bumper with a gray character line plus a black grille (complete with the N Line badge). Even more gray accents are strewn across the exterior, while the rear bumper features a centrally located triangular fog lamp. There are also two rounded tailpipes with a chrome finish.
In Europe, four exterior colors will be offered (Phantom Black, Aurora Gray, Polar White and Brass), with the white version also available with a black roof. A set of 17-inch alloy wheels with a two-tone finish will ship as standard, while Hyundai says suspension improvements have also been made.
Inside, the i20 N Line features N-branded sports seats up front, as well as a new N steering wheel. Other enhancements include metal pedals and a leather gearshift knob with red inserts.
