Durban – The Hawks say drug manufacturing and trafficking suspects have been arrested and will appear in court Monday.
The spokesman, Capt.Simphiwe Mhlongo, said the suspects, aged 27 to 54, were arrested by members of the Durban Serious Organized Crime Investigation Hawks assisted by the Special Task Force and Sars Customs.
In a statement, Mhlongo said members of the Hawks conducted a series of sting operations before deciphering the alleged union.
“In March of this year, one of the suspects was arrested for manufacturing and selling drugs in Hillcrest. The drug laboratory was dismantled and the police seized paraphernalia and heroin with a street value of approximately 1.6 million rand. “
He added that the members “left no stone unturned” in their investigation and on Sunday pounced on the suspects in Chatsworth and eManzimtoti.
“All members of the union were arrested and charged accordingly.”
They are expected to appear in Durban Magistrates Court on Monday.
