Hawks arrests NGO manager who defrauded employees with TERS money

CAPE TOWN – The Hawks have arrested a man from Atlantis who runs an NGO.
It allegedly defrauded the COVID-19 Temporary Employer Relief Scheme (TERS) fund.
It is understood that he claimed TERS funds from the labor department on behalf of 36 employees, but then allegedly kept the money for himself.
Zinzi Hani of the Hawks said: “The 44-year-old suspect is spending the weekend behind bars and will appear in Atlantis Magistrates Court on Monday, where he will face charges of fraud.”
