He says United manchester they celebrated “as if they had won the Premier League” after winning 3-2 on Sunday.

The Saints were up 2-0 and looked to be headed for a famous victory before Bruno Fernandes scored at the hour mark. Then two goals from substitute Edinson Cavani, the last of which came in injury time, gave United a 3-2 victory.

Cavani, who came into the break, also played for Fernandes for United’s first goal.

Celebrations on the pitch were happy after Cavani’s two headers helped United to an unlikely victory.

And Saints manager Hasenhuttl, who has led the club to five wins in 10 games this season, said the celebrations from United’s locker room were even more vociferous.

“I don’t want to give the impression that my player’s head is falling off,” Hasenhuttl said. “When you hear [United] celebrating in his dressing room then you realize what you’ve done today and how tough you’ve been a rival.

“They’re celebrating there like they’ve won the Premier League, you know.”

The Austrian coach later claimed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men were in full swing to reverse the two-goal deficit.

He added: “They had to play their best to win us and we can be proud of that.

“We had some fantastic moments, the best I think we can against those teams. I’m very happy with what we can play today.

“For 2-2, it’s fine for us, but then we conceded a third goal. We played the best we can today.

“We did our best against these teams, but we saw a fantastic team.”
