Health and beauty retailer Clicks South Africa says it will continue to operate normally on Monday, despite a call from the EFF to close its stores nationwide.

Contingency plans have been put in place to ensure the safety of staff and customers.

This comes after the EFF issued a new directive on Sunday for “combatants and ground forces” to close nationwide Clicks outlets in South Africa.

“We are issuing a new directive, Clicks South Africa as of tomorrow, September 7, must close all its stores in South Africa until Friday, September 12.

“Fighters, all of us tomorrow morning, we will report to the nearest Clicks store to make sure the EFF directive is implemented,” EFF General Secretary Marshall Dlamini said in a video statement Sunday.

The political party made a list of demands for the health and beauty retailer to comply within 24 hours, following an offensive announcement that sparked outrage on Friday.

News24 previously reported that the ad described the hair of two black women as “dry and damaged” and “curly and dull”, while the images showing the hair of the two white women were described as “fine and straight hair” and “normal hair”.

“Clicks has taken full responsibility and unreserved apology for the announcement posted on its website and has taken immediate action to address all concerns,” the retailer concluded.
