Mason Greenwood He apologized for his “bad judgment” after pictures of the United manchester forward apparently inhaling laughing gas.

The 18-year-old appeared to breathe nitrous oxide from a balloon in a video shot several weeks ago.

In a statement from United, Greenwood said: “I have now learned of the health risks associated with this practice and accept that even trying, as shown in these historic images, was partly bad judgment. I strongly urge others not to follow my example.

“At 18 I am learning all the time, however this week I have also learned that I will be judged to a higher standard due to my career as a footballer and I must respect that going forward.

“I am determined to return the faith that my manager and the coaches have shown in me.”

The images appeared a week after Greenwood and Phil Foden were sent home from England after violating Covid-19 rules.
