Global uncertainty could put World War III at risk

“I think we live in a time where the world is a very uncertain and anxious place and of course the dynamics of global competition is also a feature of our lives, and I think the real risk that we have with quite a lot of the regional conflicts that are going on right now, is that you could see that escalation leads to miscalculation, “Carter told Sky News.

When asked if that meant there was a genuine threat of another world war, Carter replied, “I am saying it is a risk and we must be aware of those risks.

Carter, who became Britain’s warlord in 2018, said it was important to remember those who had died in previous wars as a warning to those who might repeat mistakes from the past.

“If you forget the horror of war, I think the great risk is that people think that going to war is a reasonable thing,” he said.

“We have to remember that history may not repeat itself, but it has a rhythm, and if you look back to the last century, before the two world wars, I think it was indisputable that there was an escalation that led to miscalculation that eventually led to war on a scale hopefully we would never see again. ”
