Gift of the Givers, along with the Solidarity Fund and the Department of Commerce and Industry, said they would distribute 900 machines that would be used for effective oxygen delivery.
The intervention aims to relieve pressure on hospitals and ambulances, which are invaded by patients in need of oxygen.
“The distribution has already started. Tomorrow at 8 am Gift of the Givers loads 900 CPAP machines from Acacia Medical warehouses for delivery to the Eastern Cape. Requests have been coming in from hospitals overrun with patients requiring oxygen supply, ”the organization’s founder, Imtiaz Sooliman, said in a statement Monday.

“CPAP machines depend on a reliable oxygen infrastructure in hospitals and clinics. Ambulances also receive the machines, as oxygen can be supplied from oxygen cylinders while taking patients to oxygen facilities. “
Sooliman said the organization would also be wary of at least 12,000 respiratory units in other hospitals across the country.
The Eastern Cape currently has 6,961 active cases of COVID-19.
