Gauteng residents warned of severe weather conditions

The South African Meteorological Service has issued a warning Gauteng residents from severe thunderstorms with possible flooding in susceptible low-lying areas and traffic disruption due to reduced visibility.

The South African Meteorological Service warned motorists to be careful between 5 pm and 9 pm as a result of reduced visibility and flooded areas.

According to the weather service, it will be partly cloudy and cool to warm with scattered showers and thunderstorms in Gauteng.

Robert Mulaudzi, a spokesman for the Johannesburg emergency services, said the department received a warning about expected thunderstorms from the South African Weather Service in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
