JOHANNESBURG – Emergency service officials are busy cleaning up operations after the incessant rain that wreaked havoc in Gauteng, including Centurion and Hammanskraal.
Major roads were affected, with cars submerged, while some families had to leave their homes due to flooding.
Spokesman Charles Mabaso warned residents to avoid areas that were still flooded.
“Unfortunately, we lost three young children due to the weather we have experienced in the Hammanskraal area. We call on parents to consider the safety of their children and others and make safety a high priority.”
Meanwhile, SA Weather Service forecaster Luthando Masimini said less rain was expected in some parts of the country on Monday.
“Isolated rains and thunders are expected in the central and eastern parts of the country, with a 30% chance of rain in the North West province, the Free State, the eastern tip of the North Cape in KZN, where 60% chance is expected and a 30% chance of rain is expected for Gauteng and Limpopo. “
