Five people were killed in a car accident on the Golden Highway in Gauteng.

The driver is believed to have lost control while traveling on R553 past Golden Gardens in Sebokeng, said Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) spokesman Simon Zwane.

“It is alleged that the driver lost control of the vehicle and rolled over,” Zwane said.

Five of the occupants, the driver, two women and two children, died in the accident.

Seven people, four men, two women and a child, were injured. They were taken to the hospital.

“The accident is being investigated by SAPS and RTMC,” Zwane said.
