Gareth Bale has said goodbye to his teammates at Real Madrid and has even wished Zinedine Zidane good luck with his signing for Tottenham, according to Spain.

The 31-year-old completed his medical studies in Madrid and will return to Tottenham on loan for a year after an agreement was reached whereby the two clubs will finance his salary of 600,000 pounds a week.

Bale is scheduled to fly to London on Friday with Sergio Reguilon, who Tottenham will also sign from Real Madrid on a £ 27.6m deal.

According to the Spanish television network Cuatro, Bale was at the Madrid training complex this Thursday to say goodbye to his teammates.

Despite being sidelined by Zidane last season, Bale remains a popular figure in Madrid’s dressing room, and players even nickname him ‘the golfer’.

It is also claimed that Bale was eager to say goodbye to Zidane as he has no grudge for how he has been treated, and the forward wanted to wish the Madrid manager good luck for the upcoming campaign.

Since coming to Madrid from Spurs for £ 85m in 2013, Bale has helped the Spanish club win four Champions League trophies and two La Liga titles.

But with Zidane last season, Bale made just 20 appearances in all competitions and played just 100 minutes of soccer when the campaign restarted in June.

Bale has already held talks with José Mourinho before his return to Tottenham.

“Gareth has spoken with Jose and explained to him how the Spurs have a special place in his heart,” Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett said Wednesday.
