The Huawei P40 is Huawei’s newest premium phone to fight for leadership in the smartphone market. The phone goes directly to devices like the Galaxy S20, an advanced model recently launched by Samsung. In addition to the robust technical file, the Chinese giant made important improvements to the camera, which now opts for a 50 MP main camera with the largest sensor on the market.
However, the negative point is due to the Android system that does not have Google’s services and technologies, as decided by the United States government. Check the model comparison on the following lines.
Design and canvas.
Unlike the more expensive models, like the Huawei P40 Pro and P40 Pro Plus, the Huawei P40 has a flat, curved screen on the sides, just like the Galaxy S20, which lost the feature in this generation. Other similarities are cameras assigned in a dedicated area at the rear and selfies cameras, housed within the screen.
As for the quality displayed on the screen, both should offer good results despite Samsung’s superior numbers. While the P40 has a 6.1-inch Full HD + OLED screen (2340 x 1080 pixels), the South Korean rival brings a 6.2-inch Quad HD + Dynamic AMOLED panel (3,200 x 1,440 pixels).
In colors, the Huawei phone has options in white (Ice White), blue (Deep Sea Blue), silver (Silver Frost), gold (Blush Gold) and black (Black). Samsung launched in gray, blue, and pink.
Cameras
The Huawei P40 is a giant when it comes to the camera. The main differential of the model is that the main sensor of 50 MP (width, aperture f / 1.9) has the largest size on the market, measuring 1 / 1.28 inches. In theory, this is the smartphone with the highest light-capturing ability today, which should generate great images even in dark environments.
Additional sensors are a 16 MP (f / 2.2) ultra-wide-angle telephoto lens and another 8 MP (f / 2.4) telephoto lens with 3x zoom, for a total of three rear cameras. Another highlight is Enhanced Artificial Intelligence (AI), which indicates which is the best image in the gallery to post on social media.
The Galaxy S20 also comes standard with a triple camera: one with 12MP resolution (26mm, f / 1.8 aperture), one 12MP ultra-wide to capture wider angles (f / 2.2), and one with telephoto and 64 MP (f / 2.0) sensor, capable of 3x optical zoom.
For selfies, the Huawei P40 has a 32 MP (f / 2.0) camera, while the Galaxy S20 records images of up to 10 MP (f / 2.2).
Processor and storage
In terms of performance, they both belong to the premium cell phone segment and should be running most apps and games today. On the Huawei phone, the processor is the Kirin 990 (octa-core up to 2.8 GHz), self-made and optimized for 5G Internet. The Galaxy S20 chipset, on the other hand, is the Exynos 990, also in-house and with a speed of up to 2.7 GHz.
The Samsung model also has 8 GB of RAM, the same capacity as the Chinese phone. Both also share 128 GB of internal storage, with the possibility of expansion via microSD.
Drums
The Galaxy S20 brings a 4,000 mAh battery against 3,800 mAh on the P40. Despite the difference, the two smartphones should have similar performance. The promise, in both cases, is that cell phones arrive at the end of the day with a charge. They even have fast charge support.
However, the Galaxy S20 is highlighted by Wireless PowerShare, which allows you to charge other wireless devices by simply touching the back of the phone.
Software and resources
The two smartphones leave the factory with modified versions of Android 10, but with one fundamental difference: due to a determination by the US government. In the US, Huawei cannot run Google apps on brand devices. This means that you do not have the Google Play Store or other services and applications, such as Google Maps, YouTube and Gmail.
Another negative point for Huawei phone is IP53 only certification, which means it cannot be submerged. The Galaxy S20 has IP68 protection, the most advanced today. As for unlocking, they both have a fingerprint reader built into the screen.
Pricing and availability
The Huawei P40 arrives in Europe on April 7 for 799 euros, around R $ 4,535 in direct conversion and without taxes. There is no information on the arrival of the model on Brazilian soil. The Galaxy S20 arrived in the country in March with a suggested price starting at R $ 5,499.
