Fulham left the Premier league relegation zone after finally solving his penalty issues in a surprising 2-1 win in Leicester Monday.

Scott Parker’s team won for the second time in the league this season thanks to Ademola Lookman’s first goal and Ivan Cavaleiro’s penalty.

Fulham had missed three of their four previous penalties this season, but Cavaleiro stood his ground to convert the crucial second goal from the penalty spot.

It was an emotional success for the Cottagers, with Lookman celebrating his goal by displaying one of Papa Bouba Diop’s Senegal jerseys after the former Fulham midfielder died at the weekend at age 42.

Harvey Barnes scored for Leicester in the final minutes, but Fulham held on and moved a point above the last three.

It was just Fulham’s second away win in the last 26 Premier League matches and the first since a win at Bournemouth in April 2019.

Leicester would have been second with a win, but instead remain fourth, three points behind leader Tottenham, after a second consecutive loss in the league.

Leicester dominated possession in the first half and hit the wood twice within seconds after James Maddison’s free kick bounced off the Fulham wall.

The loose ball reached Youri Tielemans, whose volley from outside the area hit the post and ran to Wesley Fofana to smash his shot off the crossbar.

Jamie Vardy came close to rewarding Leicester’s dominance with a nimble effort from a Dennis Praet cross, but Alphonse Areola made the save at his near post.

Antonee Robinson squandered a good opportunity to put Fulham ahead against the game’s streak when he shot straight at Kasper Schmeichel.

It was a warning Leicester missed when Lookman scored for the Cottagers in the 30th minute.

Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa charged the ball from inside his own half, rushing forward uncontrollably before making a pass that divided the defense to Leipzig winger Lookman, who guided a brilliant finish past Schmeichel.

Parker’s team doubled their lead in the 38th minute with a rare penalty shot.

Christian Fuchs fouled Bobby Decordova-Reid and referee Simon Hooper awarded the penalty after checking the pitch monitor.

After Fulham missed three penalties earlier this season, Cavaleiro opted for power when he edged out Schmeichel in the top corner.

The chances were slim as Fulham held on to preserve their lead after the break.

Barnes set up a tense finish with a fierce blow from Vardy’s knockdown in the 86th minute.

James Justin fired wide in injury time, but it was too late to save Leicester.
