The suspense is taking its toll on US President Donald Trump as votes are counted and Americans wait to find out who will run them for the next four years.
Trump’s timeline on Twitter has been awash with spiel and accusations of fraud and violation of American democracy since the polls closed on Tuesday.
In the early stages of the vote count, Trump was optimistic that he would win the presidency. He even declared a false victory even though millions of votes have yet to be counted. He said his legal team would take his case to the United States Supreme Court, but did not specify what they would claim.
“We were preparing to win this election. Frankly, we won this election, ”Trump said. “This is a huge fraud in our nation. We want the law to be used appropriately. Then we will go to the Supreme Court of the United States. We want the voting to stop, ”he said.
Trump had been at the helm in the states of Florida, Ohio and Texas.
On Wednesday night, Biden said he was optimistic he would win the election.
As of this writing, Biden had 264 votes and Trump had 214. 270 votes are needed in the electoral college state by state to win the White House.
