Frank Lampard has warned Chelsea FC that they will have to step up their game when they face Manchester United in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Blues head into the game after their goalless draw with Sevilla at Stamford Bridge in their first Champions League game on Tuesday night.

The West London team worked hard on defense to hold off the Spanish team and keep a clean sheet in what has been a difficult campaign for the Blues on defense so far.

Meanwhile, Manchester United prepared for their Premier League showdown with Chelsea FC by scoring an impressive 2-1 victory at Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night.

Lampard was impressed to see the Red Devils win at the Parc des Princes and feels that Saturday’s showdown at Old Trafford will be a real test for his Blues team.

When asked if Chelsea FC can take advantage of their performance against Sevilla ahead of their trip to Old Trafford, Lampard said BT sport Tuesday night: “They (Manchester United) could also be improving their performance tonight! They had a really good result.

“We have to do it, it’s a long season and we are in its early stages.

“As I said before the game, we lost this game last year against Valencia, so it’s a much better start for us and it gives us confidence in the face of what is going to be a difficult group, no matter how you look at it.

“But, yes, the league games ahead … Manchester United is a great test after a very good result for them, but we have to go with faith.”

Chelsea FC, who finished fourth and trophy-less last season, are currently eighth in the Premier League table, having added eight points from their first five top flight matches.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are in 15th place having won two and lost two of their first four Premier League games this season.
