Four other coronavirus patients have died in Teesside hospitals, the NHS England confirmed.

All were recorded at North Tees and the Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust, which runs North Tees University Hospital in Stockton.

The number of deaths in that trust is now 79.

There were no more deaths recorded Sunday at the South Tees NHS Foundation Trust, which runs James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.

The total number of patients who died under the care of that trust remains 189.

That’s a total at 268 Teesside hospitals.

Five deaths have previously been reported at the Tees, Esk, and Wear Valley NHS Trust, which runs mental health hospitals in a large region that includes Teesside.

And at least 54 more people have died after testing positive for the disease in nursing homes, hospices and at home, new figures showed this week.

It occurs when Middlesbrough was revealed to have one of the highest death rates for covid-19 in the northeast and one of the highest in the country.

National table

Another 327 people, who tested positive for covid-19, died, bringing the total number of confirmed hospital deaths in England to 21,180.

The patients ranged in age from 46 to 101 years. 17 of the 327 patients (aged between 47 and 97 years) had no known underlying health conditions.

Their families have been informed.

The full UK figure will be announced later today, when the totals for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are announced.
