A chilling story has developed around a Pietermaritzburg employee who allegedly staged a series of revenge coups against staff after being arrested for being under the influence on duty.

Provincial police said two men, aged 38 and 43, were arrested by KZN’s Organized Crime Investigation Unit in connection with a series of serious crimes including two counts of murder, attempted murder, intimidation, intentional harm to property and arson.

Magma Security’s Shaheen Suleiman said the industry involved had hired his company to investigate the matter. He said they worked on the matter “day and night and left no stone unturned” to accumulate information and gather the necessary evidence that led to the arrest of four suspects. He said they had set up a joint operation with the organized crime unit of the police.

In a statement Sunday, police said an employee of a company in Pietermaritzburg is alleged to have arrived at work drunk and was fired after an internal disciplinary hearing was held.

KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula applauded investigating officers for the arrests.
