Johannesburg – Former Kaizer Chiefs captain Johannes “Ryder” Mofokeng has passed away, the club confirmed in a statement.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our legend and the oldest captain of the Kaizer Chiefs, Johannes ‘Ryder’ Mofokeng,” the statement said.
“The President, on behalf of the Club, has expressed his deepest condolences to the grieving family and friends. Robala ka kgotso Phoka “.
Mofokeng performed for Kaizer Chiefs during the team’s “golden age” in which he was captain of the club for 11 years and won 4 NPSL titles and a quadruple in 1981.
South African Minister Fikile Mbalula shared a condolence post on Twitter after hearing the sad news.
