JOHANNESBURG – Former Joburg City Executive Mayor Herman Mashaba on Wednesday denied reports that he terminated the contract for OUTsurance points in the city.
The City of Joburg has announced that male and female OUTsurance points are back to assist traffic during rush hour after 15 months of frustration caused by traffic congestion in their absence.
City spokesman Mlimandlela Ndamase said the former mayor terminated the contract between the city and Traffic Freeflow, the company responsible for the deployment of points.
In a statement, Mashaba said that the contract should be terminated so that other companies would have the opportunity to bid for the tender.
Mashaba said the contract was nearing completion when he left office in November 2019.
“When I left, the bidding process was near the end and I’m not even sure why it took them so long to run this process.”
