Former England goalkeeper David James has claimed Liverpool are capable of going ahead without Mohamed Salah in the squad, although he stressed that he would have to be replaced by the Reds.
During the latest international break, Salah, along with his teammates Mohamed Elneny and Ahmed Hassan Kouka, tested positive for coronavirus.
As a result, the 28-year-old winger missed Egypt’s two victories against Togo in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
In addition, the Egyptian star was also absent in Liverpool’s crucial 3-0 win over Premier League rival Leicester City on Sunday.
James suggested the Reds could cash in on Salah if the right offer comes from a team like Real Madrid, but he doesn’t prefer to see him in direct rival.
“If the price is correct, any player will be sold. It depends on what that price is. If Salah went to Manchester City, I don’t think it would be a good deal for Liverpool, ”said James. Astro Stadium.
“If it went to a different league and a different country, it would make more sense.”
“I don’t think Liverpool is dependent on Salah and that is good for Jurgen Klopp. However, it would still need to be replaced. I don `t believe [Salah]it is indispensable ”, he added.
Salah was confirmed to have recovered from COVID-19 on Sunday after Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp stated that his latest test showed a negative result.
Salah got off to an impressive start to the 2020/21 season, scoring ten goals and providing an assist in 13 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions.
