The Federal Legal Commission district attorney’s appeal panel has confirmed the decision to terminate the membership of former Gauteng MP Nkele Molapo for leaking information to EFF leader Julius Malema.
In a statement Friday, DA Gauteng President Mike Moriarty said the ruling ended a three-year process that sought accountability for the acts committed by Molapo in 2017.
Molapo was accused of leaking confidential information from DA Tshwane’s government to the Economic Freedom Fighters.
Evidence of this leak was presented to then-Tshwane Mayor Solly Msimanga, and Msimanga opened a case against Molapo with the DA Federal Legal Commission.
Molapo and Msimang were involved in another sexual assault case after Molapo opened a case with the police.
In reaction to the ruling, Molapo said: “I have taken note of the press release announcing the termination of my party affiliation. My lawyer and I have not yet received any official communication from the party. I will consult with my lawyer about the way forward.” .

Moriarty added that the three-person panel of the DA Federal Legal Commission reviewed the evidence in this matter, including messages that Molapo had sent directly to senior EFF leaders.
He said the panel heard from all parties before unanimously declaring Molapo guilty of leaking and exposing DA’s political strategy in Tshwane to the EFF.
“Upon his appeal of this finding, a five-person appeal panel heard the appeal and subsequently confirmed the finding of guilt. The evidence was crystal clear; messages and screenshots of messages sent and received were presented to the FLC. , and they made an airtight box, “added Moriarty.
The district attorney said the leak of confidential information from the district attorney and the political strategy to the EFF was the cause of great instability in his group, the government and the city of Tshwane.
“Molapo is to blame for giving the EFF some tactical political advantages that compromised our work. After these leaks, the North Gauteng High Court concluded in its ruling on the instability in Tshwane that the ability of the EFF and the ANC to break the quorum at key moments was to blame for the council’s stalling work This tactic of breaking the quorum was based on the EFF’s knowledge of the AD’s own political strategies.
“I am very pleased with the outcome of this case. The Office does not tolerate leaks, which do so to destabilize us and undermine our work and efforts to bring about change in South Africa. The Office is adamant that accountability for such transgressions It must be The DA is the only party in South Africa that vigorously enforces accountability internally, “he said.
