FNB Credit Card Customers Run Out of Balance and Decline Payments Due to ‘FICA Error’

FNB credit card customers have been left with declined transactions and void balances due to a technical issue.

When attempting to make purchases or complete transactions with an FNB credit card, the process is rejected and customers receive a message stating that “pending documents are required to comply with FICA”.

The problem is affecting FNB credit card customers across the country, and there is no way for customers to contact the bank as call centers are closed on Sundays.

The Financial Intelligence Center Act (FICA) requires financial institutions, such as FNB, to establish and verify the identities and residential addresses of their clients. This is done through identity documents and proof of residence in most cases.

However, customers reporting the latest credit card issued by FNB range from those who have recently signed up to the back and those who have been customers for decades.

FNB Card CEO Chris Labuschagne said the bank is aware of the problem.

“Our technical teams are working hard to urgently resolve the issue. We apologize to our customers for any inconvenience caused, ”he said.
