FlySafair revealed that the airline will cancel some flights due to new curfew times.
In a tweet posted Wednesday, it read: “Dear customers. Unfortunately, we have had to cancel some flights due to the new curfew. All affected passengers will get a full refund or a completely free flight change. This can be done in the reservation management section of our website. Be on the lookout for emails and SMS alerts. “(Sic)
According to the Daily Maverick, nearly 10,000 passengers were affected by the cancellations.
The airline’s chief marketing officer, Kirby Gordon, shared more information about the cancellations with IOL Travel.
“Unfortunately, we have had to cancel several subsequent flights due to the curfew time change. The unfortunate thing is that we lose pairs of flights because a plane has to return to the operations base to carry out technical controls and be present to start the next day of flight.
“For example, a flight from Joburg to PE can land at 8pm, which is quite a long time for curfew, but because the return leg is compromised we have to miss the entire pair. We fully support the efforts at stake to stem the second wave, but this particular measure has had an unfortunate impact on our business, disrupting our customers and limiting our ability to fly and make money during this crucial period, “he said.
The change may disrupt travelers’ flight times, but it does not affect the cost of their reservation.
“Customers affected by the changes have been given two options. They can either be accommodated on alternative flights at no charge, which most have chosen to do, or receive full refund coupons, which some people have opted for,” he added. said.
