Four women and one man have been arrested in connection with the murder of Prince Lethukuthula Zulu two weeks ago.
Police are also investigating whether they drugged their victims before robbing them.
The 50-year-old son of King Goodwill Zwelithini was found dead by security guards at his home in a Northwold, Johannesburg residential complex on November 6.
Police spokesman Brig Mathapelo Peters said over the weekend that police had attacked the suspects in Pretoria on Friday night. They are four women between 27 and 42 years old and a 32 year old man.
During the arrest, a suspect was found in possession of different substances and these were seized to investigate the possibility that the deceased and his business partner were drugged before cash and other valuables were stolen from the residence.
“Several items suspected of theft were seized from the suspects’ residences.
“The investigation continues as the police anticipate uncovering possibly more evidence to build a strong case that can be upheld in court. The investigation could also help establish whether the suspects may have committed previous similar crimes in which victims were drugged and robbed.” .
The suspects face murder and robbery charges. They he is expected to appear in Randburg magistrates court on Monday.
