Interestingly, we were reading reports that Chelsea center-back Fikayo Tomori will be loaned out to Everton this season.
The BBC, among many other reliable reports, claimed that Everton were interested in loaning Tomori from Chelsea this season, and some other less reliable outlets reported that a doctor had even occurred.
However, these reports turned out to be premature and The Athletic’s Simon Johnson began to give us the feeling that Tomori might still end up staying at Chelsea this season and playing a major role with Frank Lampard.
And backing up the tone of what I heard, Lampard said that Tomori is in contention for playing #CFC against Brighton on Monday. Obviously, Silva is highly unlikely to be ready now, but it’s still an interesting development. https://t.co/PFT1Yo7gxS

As Johnson says, the deal appears to be at stake. But Lampard says he hasn’t even heard of any conversations with Everton.

So this is a big U-turn for Chelsea and are they about to sell off one of their other center-backs and realize they need Tomori to stay now? Or are the links to Everton over-reported and the deal never close to happening?
