Few glamor ties for EPL sides

The Europa League group stage draw hasn’t given the Premier League squad too much glamorous ties to look forward to from October 22.

José Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur received a difficult group from the Europa League in the draw on Friday, October 2.

Spurs will be targeting the progression of their group which includes Belgian Cup champions Royal Antwerp, Bulgarian champions Ludogorets and LASK of Austria.

Leicester City also have a tough job coming out of a group that will see them travel to Portugal, Greece and Ukraine to face Braga, Aek Athens and Zorya Luhansk.

Arsenal will also face Austrian opponents in Rapid Wien, but will not rack up miles from their Premier League rivals as their days off will be in Ireland, Norway and Austria. Dundalk and Molde make up the rest of Group B.

Scottish champions Celtic have found themselves in what could be seen as the group of death with AC Milan, Lille and Sparta Prague baring a place in the knockout stages for Neil Lennon’s charges. Celtic and Milan last met in the Champions League group stage in 2013/14.

Celtic’s fierce rivals Rangers take a spot in Group D with Benfica, Belgium’s Standard Liege and Poland’s Lech Poznan. Steven Gerrard side

The first round of the Europa League group stage will take place on October 22, 2020. UEFA announced on Thursday October 1 that it will allow spectators to return to a maximum of 30 percent capacity in countries where governments have given their approval.

This season’s finale is scheduled to be played in Gdansk, Poland, on May 26, 2021.
