Manchester United will face Istanbul Basaksehir in the Champions League on Wednesday night. Here’s the line-up we think Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will select for the game:
GoalieDavid De Gea has started both of United’s Champions League games so far this season, so we expect Solskjaer to pick his number one tomorrow, which means Dean Henderson will remain on the bench.
Defending: Man Utd has played with four defenders in recent weeks and Solskjaer is likely to stick with that system against Basaksehir. Harry Maguire could keep his place, but we could see Axel Tuanzebe coming in in place of Victor Lindelof after impressing against PSG recently.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka will continue as right-back, while Luke Shaw should retain his place once again, as Axel Telles has not traveled to Turkey as he continues to miss the opportunity to test positive for COVID-19.
Eric Bailly is still getting back into shape after a knee injury, while Phil Jones won’t be back until December.
Midfield: Manchester United have opted for a diamond midfield with mixed results in the last two games. It worked well against Leipzig, but Arsenal dominated the center of the park on Sunday, so we can see Solskjaer mixing it up tomorrow.
Paul Pogba could break through after a disappointing performance against the Gunners that saw him give away the decisive penalty so Nemanja Matic could be retired alongside Fred.
Scott McTominay may retire, while Bruno Fernandes should have a break and Donny van de Beek another chance to impress in the role of forward attacking midfielder.
Attack: Anthony Martial is back in contention after completing his three-game suspension at the weekend and the French international is expected to receive an immediate call to start head-on.
Marcus Rashford can keep his place on the left side of the attack, while Mason Greenwood could start on the opposite flank, although Daniel James is pushing for him to retire.
Edinson Cavani is another option for Man Utd at the helm, but the Uruguayan hitman is expected to remain among the substitutes alongside players like Juan Mata and Odion Ighalo.
Here’s how we think Man Utd will line up:
