Sharks fullback and Springbok hopeful Aphelele Fassi have been ruled for up to four months due to a shoulder injury.
The untimely injury is a major setback for the young defender, who is widely regarded as one of South Africa’s most promising players.
Now he will miss the Sharks against the Bulls game on next week’s ‘Vodacom Super Fan Saturday’, the green and gold showdown and a big chunk of the upcoming national competition, possibly all of it.
The unfortunate news of the injuries was verified by SARugbymag.co.za, and Fassi had surgery.
The 22-year-old was also a strong contender for the Springbok selection for the upcoming Rugby Championship, but will now be out of the game for three to four months.
In a fresh blow for the Sharks, wings Sbu Nkosi (chest) and Madosh Tambwe (tight) and hooker Kerron van Vuuren (chest) are also battling injuries.
