Shattered, wounded and confused, the family of armed response officer Marlin Muller, 38, is demanding answers after police allegedly shot him dead.

The father of three had come out to tell his two daughters, who were having a meeting near their home in Hanover Park, that it was late and they had to go inside.

The teens were on the Cascade Court playground around midnight Saturday, just yards from their home on the same court.

At that moment, the police arrived at the scene. Officers ordered residents to lie down on the ground and it was unclear what triggered the shots.

VICTIM: Marlin Muller, 38

Witness Katelynn Fourie says: “The police came and asked us to come down. Before we could do that, they fired a shot.

“We wondered if the bullet was fired into the air, but we saw it [Marlin] falling down and we started crying. “

His wife Sharon says she does not know what caused the police to open fire in the presence of innocent people.

“Marlin was unarmed and just went to pick up the kids. They killed him senselessly.

“I had just left when I heard the shot,” he says.

SHOCK: Wife Sharon Muller

Sharon says that after police shot her husband, they didn’t call an ambulance.

“They just stood there and started peppering other people who were there.

“A bakkie had to take him to the hospital. His intestines fell out after the shooting.

“He was our breadwinner, I have three children and two grandchildren. They took it from us, ”Sharon yelled.

PAIN: Family and friends who sympathize with Sharon

Marlin’s daughter, Tameeka, says she picked up the shell of the bullet and police fought her off.

“They saw me lifting the bullet and twisted my arm until I let go of it,” he says.

“They pepper sprayed me so he could loosen me up, I hurt my arm in the process.

“They lied and said they fired a rubber bullet, but we know what they used was live ammunition.”

Marlin was described as a good man. Dozens of people came to his house yesterday to offer their condolences.

The police referred to Daily voice to the Independent Police Investigations Directorate (Ipid). Ipid did not respond to inquiries.
