Facundo Pellistri praises Edinson Cavani for helping him settle

Facundo Pellistri hopes that 2021 will be a great year for him at Manchester United.

The Uruguayan hopes to make his United debut after his transfer from Peñarol in October.

Pellistri has been adapting on and off the pitch to life in England, praising the impact his new teammate Edinson Cavani has had in helping him settle down.

The teenager told the United club website: “I talk to Edi and she is a very nice person. He is always trying to be close to me, giving me advice and everything I need. He is there to help me and that is very important to me. I’m very happy with that.

“I know he is one of the best players in the world and one of the best Uruguay players of all time, but he is also a very nice person.

Investments that pay off

Pellistri and Cavani are two players at different stages in their careers. Since they both come from Uruguay, there is a natural link between the two.

Cavani is already making quite an impression, scoring four goals for United so far, including one that broke the stalemate in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals against Everton.

The suspension means Cavani will not be available to play in the semi-final, nor in the FA Cup match with Watford next weekend.

This may be disappointing for Pellistri, who has a chance to play in the Watford tie but will not be able to do so alongside his Uruguayan compatriot.

Ultimately, both players should prove to be very worthwhile investments for United, short and long term, even if there is little crossover between the two.

Pellistri is under contract until 2026 and has plenty of time to improve. It cost just £ 7 million, while Cavani joined in a free transfer.

Cavani has already shown what he is capable of and should have a lot more to offer between now and the end of the season.

His help with Pellistri goes unnoticed, but it shows the kind of act he has off the field as well.
