The well-known soccer journalist Fabrizio Romano has stated in Twitter that Barcelona have contacted Georginio Wijnaldum’s agent.
Romano, who works for The Guardian among other media, has stated that the Barcelona board has contacted Wijnaldum’s agent.
The journalist added that Spanish and European giants will present an official offer in the coming days.
The Guardian reported earlier this month that Barcelona want to sign the Dutch international and that the Reds could sell the 29-year-old if they get a good offer.
Liverpool exit on the cards?
Wijnaldum is a very good and important midfielder for Liverpool, but there is a possibility that he will soon be a Barcelona player.
The Dutchman enjoyed playing with Barcelona’s new coach, Ronald, for the Netherlands soccer team.
With the former Newcastle United midfielder out of a contract at Liverpool at the end of the 2020-21 campaign, the Premier League champions may have no choice but to sell him now rather than lose him for free next summer.
The Reds will be looking to win a consecutive title next season, in addition to competing in the Champions League.
