Durban – Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife has closed its Hiltop Resort located within the Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park with immediate effect after the resort manager tested positive for Covid-19.

Guests currently at the resort have been informed and will be allowed to isolate themselves within the complex as long as they are willing to cook and do housework for themselves, Ezemvelo said in a statement Saturday.

Musa Mntambo, Ezemvelo’s corporate director, said the resort’s closure is a precautionary measure and is also in line with the advice received from Ezemvelo’s medical team.

“The council follows the positive Covid-19 test results of one of the resort managers who, as part of his duties, interacted with all resort staff as well as guests. The Resort will probably open on Thursday, January 7, 2021, ”he said.

All guests who have reservations during the affected dates will need to transfer their reservations to the Mpila Resort, which is located within the Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park or the Mantuma Resort in the Mkhuze Game Reserve, Ezemvelo said.

They will also be allowed to choose any other Ezemvelo Resort if they prefer not to transfer to either of the two resorts listed above.

According to Ezemvelo, they will also be subject to rebooking requests on a different future date or refunds.

The three main gates Memorial, Nyalazi and Cengeni will remain open and the public is encouraged to visit the park and use the Centenary Center to purchase food, as the Hiltop restaurant is also closed.

For more information on reservations, visitors have been asked to contact the Reservation Center on 033 845 1000 or by email at [email protected]

Alternatively, you can contact the Resort Manager, Ms. Tiny Major at 076 481 5539.
