A regular bettor, who always plays Quick Pick, said that the most she had ever won was R400.

“I still can’t believe it,” the soft-spoken woman said. “I’ve been playing the lottery for what seems like forever. I play every week – Lotto and PowerBall.

“Most of the time I don’t check the numbers because your winnings are usually credited to your bank account. But this time the next day a man from FNB called to tell me that I had won. Initially I thought I had won around R52,000 , but the man said he couldn’t tell me how much he had earned; he needed to visit [lottery operator] Ithuba offices. But then I checked the numbers … I almost fell! I could not believe it … “

The latest North West billionaire has no plans to tell anyone apart from her close relatives about her fortune. “I don’t owe anyone anything,” he joked.

Paying it forward

In addition to investing the money in a property, the winner, who lives with her aunt, also planned to pay a portion in advance.

The winner maintained that nothing in her life was going to change.

“I’m not going to buy a Ferrari or anything like that, then all my money will be gone,” he laughed.

According to Ithuba, the lucky winner was the third millionaire winner in just a few weeks of the new year and the second biggest winner of the year to date.
