Durban – The city said residents should keep their trash in their yards until further notice.

In a statement issued today, the City said this was due to an illegal strike by DSW workers.

“The City leadership is prioritizing this issue and doing everything possible to ensure that the situation returns to normal quickly.”

eThekwini also apologized to residents for the inconvenience caused.

Durban Metro police spokesman Zama Dlamini confirmed that the affected roads, the N2 and M4, were now clear.

Dlamini said that around 9 am Tuesday, 10 DSW trucks were traveling very slowly on the M4.

“Traffic was also stopped as DSW trucks blocked traffic on the N2 north bound for the Queensburgh turnoff.

“Members of the Metropolitan Police escorted them off the highway to Springfield Park, where their problems were addressed.”
