Eswatini Prime Minister Ambrose Dlamini died while under medical care at a hospital in South Africa, the kingdom’s government said in a statement.

In the statement, Deputy Prime Minister Themba Masuku said:

Their Majesties have ordered that you inform the Nation of the sad and untimely passing of His Excellency Prime Minister Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini. His Excellency passed away this afternoon while under medical care in a South African hospital.

The statement did not detail the cause of the death of the 52-year-old prime minister.

He was admitted to the hospital more than two weeks after contracting Covid-19, News24 previously reported.
