JOHANNESBURG – Eskom said Thursday that it would use holiday downtime to try to get public service back in shape.
Eskom warned of a high probability of loss of load due to the system being restricted. He said that the load had not yet been removed, but that the situation could change.
That was due to several generating units going offline.
Speaking on The Money Show with Bruce Whitfield in Radio 702, Eskom spokesman Sikonathi Mantshantsha said they were doing their best.
“We are using all the diesel generators that we can [and] we are operating all the hydroelectric storage facilities that we can to avoid that possibility, “said Mantshantsha.
“There is a high probability that we will get through tonight, and I am using it deliberately. The next few days will also be quite limited, ”he added.
