That was the news of the Cricket Board of England (ECB) on Tuesday.

Before the first ODI on Friday in Newlands, a Proteas player tested positive for Covid-19 and the match was delayed for two days.

Sunday’s ODI was also scrapped, and on Monday afternoon it was all over when the series was canceled and England began planning to return home.
“Following the independent ratification of the two unconfirmed positive Covid-19 tests from the England field in South Africa, the Cricket Board of England and Wales can confirm that, after further testing and analysis, in the opinion of independent City-based virologists Cape and London, the two individuals are not infected and do not pose any risk of transmitting the infection to the rest of the group, “the statement read.
“As such, the advice is that they are now free to join the rest of the group and no longer isolate themselves.
“The group from England, returning to the UK, will leave Cape Town on Thursday morning.”
The Proteas, meanwhile, will now turn their attention to two series of two tests against Sri Lanka starting at Centurion on Boxing Day.
