Amakhosi has been enduring a difficult start to the season complicated by a FIFA transfer ban and injuries to key players
The Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that forward Samir Nurkovic is closer to returning from injury and will start training in two weeks.
After finishing last season as the Chiefs’ top scorer with 13 league goals, Nurkovic was injured in the preseason and his absence has been felt a lot this season.
His progress in rehab is good news for coach Gavin Hunt, who has been helplessly watching his forwards struggle to score goals this season.
“Samir Nurkovic is reported to be making good progress and the medical team is anticipating his return to training camps in two weeks. The forward is recovering from surgery that has left him missing the start of this season, “Chiefs said in a statement.

Nurkovic’s return is expected to ease the Chiefs’ goal-scoring woes, which is the main talking point of their performances so far this season.
No Amakhosi striker has scored a single goal this season in all competitions and the club’s three goals in six games have come from a double by defender Yagan Sasman as well as an own goal by Chippa United’s Gregory Damons .
Not only have the Chiefs faced challenges in their attacking force, but the club has also had a shaky defense that has conceded nine goals in six games.
With right back Reeve Frosler now injured again, Hunt will be concerned about his bottom line again as he started the season without center back Eric Mathoho and Kgotso Moleko, who have since recovered.
Returning from a two-game injury break, Frosler lasted just 29 minutes during last weekend’s 2-0 loss on MTN8 to the Orlando Pirates and will be out for eight weeks.
“Reeve Frosler was seen limping off the field and substituted in the 29th minute of the MTN8 Cup semi-final match against his archrivals Orlando Pirates on Sunday, November 8,” the club said.

However, there is some encouraging news for Hunt, welcoming 17-year-old midfielder Keletso Sifama, who missed the last two games with an ankle injury.
