JOHANNESBURG – Eldorado Park residents have welcomed the arrests of two police officers linked to the murder of Nathaniel Julius, but insist they want a total overhaul of the local police station.

Julies was shot and killed just outside his home Wednesday night, allegedly by police.

Police have reportedly said Julies was shot during a crossfire between rival gangs.

But members of the public say he was killed by police.

On Friday night, police watchdog Ipid confirmed that two policemen have now been detained after they were implicated in the 16-year-old’s alleged shooting.

While residents have applauded the swift action taken by officials, they say they cannot bear to be accused by deployed officers of conspiring with criminals.

“My husband was murdered 27 years ago, what happened to the case?” asked an angry resident.

The officers will be charged with murder and possibly additional charges of thwarting the ends of justice.
Ipid said the couple were arrested after careful consideration.

Residents also say that after the shooting, members of the police tampered with the crime scene and want answers.

Ipid’s preliminary investigation has confirmed what community members have been saying.
