Cape Town – Jack Markovitz, grandson of former DA MEC and Western Cape fundraiser Leon Markowitz, has gone viral for his comments in Brackenfell, where the EFF held its protest on Friday.

The EFF followed through on its promise to descend into the area en masse, protesting alleged racism at the school after reports of a private white-only matrix costume ball last month.

Jack Markovitz was born and raised in Cape Town and is a student of politics and philosophy at UCT.

Markovitz, 21, has been a member of the EFF since he was 18 years old.

The EFF member went viral on Friday for his passionate beliefs, drawing attention and criticism from social media.

Near Brackenfell High School, he said the situation in Brackenfell was the same as in all white neighborhoods in South Africa: racism was instilled in the people.

“Racism is ingrained in the bones of these people, the only difference here is that it is more open and violent. I went to a mostly private school with mostly white children, and this happened everywhere.

“I think they yearn for apartheid, I think they use neighborhood WhatsApp groups and the PPA, and private security to defend apartheid in their neighborhoods. This exists in every white neighborhood in this country, (and) the only difference is that in Brackenfell it is more powerful and violent.

“I think (EFF) should do more, I think we should bring these protests to Clifton and Houghton Park, where the R20 million homes are. These poor white people are angry and violent and bored with their lives.

“We have to take it where the rich have money, and they are still making money with that land that is all generational wealth, inherited from their parents.”

Referring to his grandfather’s political legacy, he said: “I believe that the DA is a white supremacist party and I am trying to rectify the situation here today. We need to transfer generational wealth and land to the marginalized people of this country. “
