Daryn Dupavillon and Ottneil Baartman have been included in the Proteas Test team for the two-game series in Pakistan.

It is the first test call for the first and the first inclusion of the second’s national team.

The historic tour from South Africa to Pakistan will see them play in the country for the first time in 14 years, from January 26 to February 14, 2021. The test series in Karachi and Rawalpindi will be followed by three T20 internationals in Lahore.

The 21-member squad includes most of the players who were originally named in the home test series against Sri Lanka.

The attack is bolstered by the returns of Kagiso Rabada and Dwaine Pretorius, who are fully fit to play, with a spinning bowling momentum on the inclusions of Tabraiz Shamsi and George Linde.

The Oudtshoorn-born Baartman boasts 82 first-class wickets from 28 games with the best bowling figures of 14/95 with an average of 26.84.

His Dolphins teammate Dupavillon has 59 First Class games under his belt, with 189 wickets to his name and top bowling figures of 11/104 with a 23.88 average.

“As a selection panel, we are very excited to see how the tour of Pakistan will unfold for the players we have chosen,” commented selector coordinator Victor Mpitsang.

“We trust our teams and believe in rewarding good performances both on and off the pitch, which is why we have chosen the core of the group that was selected for the Sri Lanka home series.

“Considering that the conditions he will face are largely unknown to the South African team, we wanted to strengthen the attack with the skills that Tabraiz Shamsi and George Linde have to offer, while also giving players like Daryn Dupavillon and Ottneil Baartman a chance after making strong arguments for themselves in the last few seasons. “

The test equipment from Proteas to Pakistan is as follows:

Quinton de Kock (Captain, Titans), Temba Bavuma (Lions), Aiden Markram (Titans), Faf du Plessis (Titans), Dean Elgar (Titans), Kagiso Rabada (Lions), Dwaine Pretorius (Lions), Keshav Maharaj (Dolphins )), Lungi Ngidi (Titans), Rassie van der Dussen (Lions), Anrich Nortje (Warriors), Wiaan Mulder (Lions), Lutho Sipamla (Lions), Beuran Hendricks (Lions), Kyle Verreynne (Cape Cobras), Sarel Erwee (Dolphins), Keegan Petersen (Dolphins), Tabraiz Shamsi (Titans), George Linde (Cape Cobras), Daryn Dupavillon (Dolphins), Ottniel Baartman (Dolphins).

Players selected for the test team who are part of the franchised teams for the one-day Cup matches that are coming up in the next few days will continue to participate in the competition. The contest has been moved to a bio-secure environment (BSE) in Potchefstroom.

The team will depart for Pakistan on Friday January 15, followed by the T20 team at a later date.

The teams will travel commercially and enter a quarantine period in Karachi before beginning training and practice matches within the team.
