Johannesburg Water will implement water restrictions on Thursday, a double whammy as Eskom is also implementing load shedding.
“Rand Water has indicated that its distribution network is currently under severe pressure whereby the demand for water constantly exceeds the water supply. The water entity asked Johannesburg Water to implement its water restrictions to avoid a situation where both supply systems collapse, ”Johannesburg Water said on Wednesday.
It will restrict many of your reservoirs by between 20 and 45% and although some areas will experience low pressure or no water. Some areas will not be affected at all.
“Alternative water supply will be extended to areas affected by these restrictions and tanker supply will be implemented as needed,” said Johannesburg Water.
The reservoirs that will be restricted are:
- Rem allandale
- President Park Reservoir No2
- Halfway House South
- Diepsloot Village
- Abbatoir and market
- Sandton No1 and Sandton No2
- Malvern East
- Northeast areas
- Links Field Ridge Reservoir
- Inferential
- Meadowlands Res North and Meadowlands Res South
- Braamfischerville Ext 12 and Braamfischer
- Roodepoort Deep Municipality
- Protea Glen
- Hursthill
- Orlando Power Station
- Diepkloof tank
- Whiteridge North Ridge
- Doornkop North
- Corriemoor Reservoir
- Chiawelo Reservoir

Poortjie and Orange Farm will also experience water outages beginning at 9 am Thursday due to new water lines being connected to existing ones.
“We call on everyone to use water in moderation and to remind them that level one water restrictions are still in effect. Gardens are not allowed to be watered between 6 a.m. M. And 6 p.m. M. In the summer months (September 1 to March 31) and, in addition, it is not allowed to wash the paved areas and the entrance with hoses.
