One of the four suspects charged with killing the owner of an Ocean Basket restaurant and his mother failed a second bail attempt.
Limpopo NPA spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi said the deacon’s domestic worker Sophy Mmako, her boyfriend Lazarus Mahlo, as well as Abibi Hamid and Casper Mudau had appeared in Polokwane Magistrates Court on Monday.
Hettie Deacon, 70, and her daughter Lizette, 55, were allegedly killed on September 10 in Welgelegen, near Cycard in Polokwane.
Their bodies were reportedly found in the back of his truck.
Malabi-Dzhangi said Mmako’s second bail request was unsuccessful on Monday, after she applied on Friday.
Mmako and Mudau were denied bail last month, News24 reported.
It was previously reported that Mmako was arrested in Polokwane, while Mahlo was captured in Tembisa, where he was hiding.
The suspects face charges of kidnapping, murder and robbery with aggravating circumstances.
They are expected to return to court on January 28 next year.
